Jaakko, finnischer Philosoph und Logiker, * Vantaa 12. 1. 1929; 1959-70 Professor in Helsinki, 1965-81 an der Stanford University, seit 1978 an der Florida State University. Hintikka arbeitete zu Problemen der mathematischen Logik, v. a. der logischen Modelltheorie, sowie semantischen Problemen der Modallogik; er entwickelte eine spieltheoretische Semantik. Eine große Gruppe von Schriften beschäftigt sich mit Fragen der analytischen Wissenschaftstheorie, v. a. mit Problemen der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie und der Induktionslogik.
